Required Skills/Experience:
2 years of MS, PCU, ICU experience. Must have experience in the setting within the last 1 year.
Must have drip experience.
RNs must be open to learning vents; training is available.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Home trach and vent experience is highly preferred for travelers.
Special Requests:
Must take full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location as well.
Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
Former Marshfield employees must have an end date 6 months before submission.
Same shifts cannot be guaranteed for travel duos.
Unit Details:
RN-to-patient ratios are days: 1:4-5 and nights: 1:5-6, dependent on acuity.
Common diagnoses and patient types include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, patients 24 hours post TNK/TPA, endovascular neuro cases, altered mental status, dementia, trauma orthopedic injuries, hematomas and bleeds, falls on thinners, and farm and motor vehicle accidents.
RNs titrate drips.
Common titratable and set-rate drips include heparin, nitro, diltiazem, amiodarone, 3%, insulin.
RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2.
A central monitor is located in a different area.
Shift & Scheduling:
Flexible contract hours: 36 per week can also be accommodated.
Schedules are self-scheduled with manager balancing and open 6 weeks in advance.
Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are required.
Holiday requirements are typically 2/3 holidays for winter, and otherwise every other holiday.
No call.
Floating Requirements:
Floats to sister MS units across 6 different specialties: mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, heme/onc, to take a more general patient, etc.
