Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have 1:6 ratio experience.
  • Must have experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, traumatic injuries, chest tubes, respiratory support, traumatic brain injuries, complex spinal cord injuries, and other medical and surgical conditions.
  • Must be able to read and validate telemetry strips.

Special Requests:

  • Can only apply to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system.
  • Driver's license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility.
  • Previous permanent employees must be gone for 2 years.
  • Previous travelers who were there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years.
  • Travel teams must be submitted together.
  • If candidate worked a permanent facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from the permanent facility.
  • Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
  • At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.

Unit Details:

  • Unit includes both stepdown and floor patients.
  • Patient ratios: 1:6 for floor patients, 1:3 for stepdown patients.
  • Common patient population includes multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, fractures, general surgery cases, bariatric surgery patients, and other med-surg patients as needed.
  • Common drips: Floor - Heparin, PCAs; Stepdown - Insulin, Cardizem, and other non-pressers.
  • Stable/chronic vents only.
  • Telemetry unit with monitor techs.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Weekend nights: Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
  • Holidays as needed per the permanent staff holiday schedule.

Floating Requirements:

  • Floating to like units is required (floor/stepdown).
