Required Credentials:

  • Cannot have hits on license or any background hits, regardless of how long ago.

Special Requests:

  • Must disclose any previous employment with OSU on the resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.

  • Each employment history entry must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, and whether it was a teaching facility.
  • Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
  • At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job being applied to.
  • All travelers must have one manager/supervisor reference from the most recent/current assignment.
  • DON references are not accepted.
  • The facility will call references directly to verify.
  • No holiday RTO will be approved.
  • Holiday call-ins will result in cancellation of contract.

Unit Details:

  • High-acuity mixed medical-surgical and thoracic/cardiovascular ICU with respiratory failure, ARDS, CHF, COPD, post-STEMI, post-arrest, post-surgical, CABG, carotid, DKA, GI bleed, overdose, alcohol withdrawal, CVA with or without TNK, and renal failure. No trauma, hemorrhagic strokes, or neurosurgery.
  • Travelers may be assigned IABP, Impella, CRRT, or open heart recovery if competency is established and verified.
  • Nurses titrate drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, insulin, and heparin.
  • Dedicated ICU internal medicine team and RT coverage 24/7.
  • Uses ventilators, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and Nihon Koden monitors.
  • No monitor techs; nurses are responsible for all EKG monitoring, interpretation, and placing strips into the chart.
  • VAD team is available for PICC placement and difficult IV sticks during weekday hours, but nurses are expected to attempt PIVs before requesting assistance.
  • ICU nurses are expected to draw their own labs and perform EKGs.
  • Support staff is available 24/7 but is not assigned to the ICU.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • For the first schedule period of the contract, new travelers fill scheduling gaps to balance short shifts.
  • Future scheduling is through the Oracle application and shifts are selected on a first-come, first-served basis, then balanced by the manager according to unit needs before posting.
  • Set schedules and three-in-a-row are not guaranteed.
  • Shift swaps are available through Oracle.
  • Minimum of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule block.
  • Holidays are worked at the manager's discretion based on unit needs.
  • No call or standby requirements.

Floating Requirements:

  • Travelers are first to float and may be assigned a patient team of up to 5 patients.
