Travel Nurse (RN) - Cardiothoracic Unit

Required Skills/Experience:

• EKG interpretation and medication titration required.
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Unit Details:

• Adult cardiothoracic/telemetry unit caring for patients with MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery, chest tubes, esophagectomy patients not fresh from PACU, and general medicine overflow.
• Titrates drips, mainly Cardizem and heparin.
• Uses Phillips telemetry monitors; monitor techs available.
• 24/7 charge nurse rarely takes patients; house supervisor available 24/7.
• PCT support ratios: days 1:8-9, evenings 1:9-10, nights 1:10-12.
• Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP for home-regimen patients, and heated high flow only in special circumstances with COVID patients.
• Nurse-patient ratios: days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for days).
• Holiday rotation required; day holidays include Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
• No call at this time.

Floating Requirements:

• Float to other general medical units.
