Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Core II in all areas of the department required.

Preferred Credentials: Master's degree in Nursing Education preferred.

Required Credentials: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP or STABLE must not expire while on assignment.

Unit Details: Clinical Nurse Educator for Maternal Child Health is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating orientation for new MCH employees and continuing education for established staff. Works collaboratively with unit leadership and follows the scope of practice for Nursing Professional Development and other nursing governing bodies applicable to Maternal Child Health. Coordinates orientation planning and evaluation, maintains educational documentation and checklists for surveys, educates staff on policy, equipment, and process changes, coordinates annual CPR/ACLS, unit skills day, drills, and new product, equipment, and process implementation and troubleshooting. Expected to assume registered nurse responsibilities on Maternal Child Health during high census or inadequate staffing. Maternal Child Health includes labor and delivery, postpartum, Level II NICU, cesarean section OR, and PACU within the labor and delivery suite.

Floating Requirements: Cross-training within Maternal Child Health may include postpartum, labor and delivery, and NICU.
