Unit Details: Neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population. Includes a trauma bay and a secure behavioral health area. Emergency Transitional Care Unit (ETCU) is a staging area for patients who have been evaluated in the main ED and are awaiting lengthy testing, consultation, or an inpatient bed. ETCU beds have telemetry capability. Two rooms are negative pressure rooms, and the entire unit can be placed under negative pressure if necessary. Patients remain in ETCU after initial nursing interventions and procedures have been started in the main ED until disposition is made. Med-surg nurses provide inpatient-level care to inpatient holds in ETCU and are cross-trained to fill specific tasks in the Emergency Department as needed. Could care for COVID patients. Tobacco- and fragrance-free facility.
Shift & Scheduling: RTO max: 7 days. Every 3rd weekend. Holidays as needed.
Floating Requirements: Floating as needed; may rotate to Emergency Transitional Care Unit.
