Required Skills/Experience:
1 year of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse.
3-4 contracts in a dedicated pediatric CICU.
2 years minimum PICU experience as a staff nurse.
Experience caring for patients with congenital heart disease and postoperative management of CHD patients.
Experience managing arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
2 years or more of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse.
At least 1 year of experience caring for neonatal cardiac patients (preoperative and postoperative management).
2 or more years of pediatric cardiac experience in a step-down or cardiology floor.
Unit Details:
The unit uses an acuity-adaptive model and cares for ICU- and step-down-level patients for continuity.
Typical procedures and clinical activities include central and arterial line placement, conscious sedation, intubation/extubation, postoperative recovery of general and cardiac procedures, sternal closures, codes, ECMO cannulation and decannulation, CRRT, and manual PD.
Equipment includes Medfusion and Baxter IV pumps, Hillrom beds, HARD cribs and cribettes, GE radiant warmers, Somanetics NIRS machines, and Servo-U ventilators.
Shift & Scheduling:
Start dates are on Tuesdays.
Rotating weekends: day shift Saturday and Sunday; night shift Friday and Saturday.
No call.
Floating Requirements:
Floating areas include PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, and pediatric oncology.
