Travel Nurse (RN) - Medical Unit

Required Credentials:
Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing.
Cannot have any disciplinary action on state license.

Special Requests:
Must be able to start within 2 weeks of the expected start date.

Shift & Scheduling:
Primary shift could be days or nights depending on facility needs.
Must have open availability per the CoreCivic scheduling policy.

Unit Details:
Patient population includes inmates/residents.
Provides nursing care to inmates/residents through sick call with the physician, pill call, medication administration, illness/injury assessment, emergency procedures, and referral to the emergency room or another appropriate healthcare facility.
Calls Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders and/or emergencies.
Monitors inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
Provides guidance, supervises, and monitors nursing care by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
Coordinates professional medical services provided by contract personnel and outside provider agencies.
Monitors potential catastrophic illnesses and audits pharmacy use for formulary adherence, including compliance with laws covering controlled substances.
Observes and records inmate/resident behavior.
Inspects the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband by inmates/residents and securely stores or safely disposes of supplies and equipment.
Provides individual or group health counseling and education.
Assists with medical file review to determine that provided services are documented and prepares narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records, reports, and logs.
Reviews and responds to lawsuits via corporate counsel and attends court hearings when necessary.
Prepares safety and accident reports and takes appropriate action in serious or unusual incidents and emergencies.

Details:

• AUTO OFFER - NO INTERVIEW: This is an auto-offer position. You will likely not interview with the facility prior to receiving an offer. However, an interview can be arranged upon request. All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment.
