Travel Allied (Lab Scientist) - Laboratory Unit

Required Skills/Experience:
Plate reading and AST experience required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Spot testing/GS SOP revision and CLSI update capability is a strong plus.
Some generalist experience preferred.

Unit Details:
Performs complex microbiology testing with minimal supervision.
Work includes plating samples and performing stat and routine gram stains.
Reviews, interprets, and reports microbiology results in accordance with laboratory principles and regulatory standards.
Performs plate reading and kit tests such as catalase, staph and strep latex, PYR, and oxidase.
Performs PCR testing on Cepheid and BioFire platforms.
Performs organism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing using the Vitek test system.
Maintains Vitek quality control within range.
Documents incubator temperatures for quality assurance.
Charting uses SoftLab; department processes and charting are outdated, and travelers must be comfortable with this setting.
The lab is busy and handles a high volume of tests.
The facility has no tube system for samples.

Shift & Scheduling:
Monday through Thursday.
Overtime starts after 40 hours.
Orientation is 8 hours.
Call-off policy: 1 occurrence per 2 weeks.
