Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 24 months of current operating room experience required (hospital/medical center experience will be prioritized).
  • Circulating operating room experience required.
  • Experience in the following cases required: general, Da Vinci robotics, pediatrics, and trauma.
  • No 1st time travelers; must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Scrub experience highly preferred.
  • Additional experience in the following cases highly preferred: neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular.
  • Trauma Level I experience highly preferred.

Special Requests:

  • Past UPH employees who are current or former FTEs or PRN staff in the UPH float pool cannot work travel in another market if they currently work there or worked there within the past 12 months. Prior UPH travel workers are exempt.
  • Unless the unit is closed, required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

Unit Details:

  • Average 35-50 cases per day. Turnover expectation is less than 20 minutes.
  • Uses 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma. Does not do many ortho joints.
  • Service lines include Cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gynecology, urology, general, pediatrics, and transplants, with a small volume of ENT and plastic procedures.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Mon-Fri with rotating day off.
  • Call: up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per 13-week contract. Weekend call runs Fri 5p through Mon 6:30a.

Floating Requirements:

  • Traveler will be required to float across all campuses: Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist.
