Travel Allied (Cytotechnologist) - Laboratory Unit

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

• At least three years of experience in a clinical lab setting.
• Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology and be able to screen and render a final diagnosis for normal gynecologic slides and refer abnormal slides to the pathologist for final diagnosis.

Required Credentials:

• Associate's degree requires a one-year internship in an accredited school of cytotechnology.

Preferred Credentials:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of cytotechnology.

Unit Details:

• Screens and reports negative gynecological cytology cases; identifies and refers abnormal cases to the pathologist; maintains quality control and quality assurance records; manages daily cytology laboratory operations.
• Microscopically examines gynecological specimens to identify and classify abnormal, precancerous, and cancerous changes; identifies infectious agents; recognizes radiation- and chemotherapy-related cell changes; enters results into LIS and verifies reports for release.
• Coordinates administrative and laboratory procedures within the section; reviews test results and quality control procedures; assists with evaluating new tests, procedures, instruments, and products.
• Private offices for cytotechnologists.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Monday-Friday with flexible hours.
• No call.

Floating Requirements:

• Float only if absolutely necessary, such as when equipment is down.
