Required Skills/Experience: 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year of CVICU experience. First-time travelers allowed if they meet the 3 years of ICU experience and 1 year of CVICU experience criteria. Competency with invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Preferred Skills/Experience: CV surgical experience with ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD preferred.
Unit Details: Patient population includes immediate post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacement, heart transplants, and epicardial/transvenous pacemakers; fresh post-op esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy; and fresh post-op AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy. RN ratios: 1:1, 1:2 if regular ICU status, 1:3 mixed status. RNs draw from invasive lines only; no peripheral sticks. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Every other weekend. No call. Holiday requirement: 1-2 per contract. RTO: up to 7 days. 6-week schedule cycle; schedule is released 1-2 weeks before it begins. Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
Floating Requirements: May float to ED Holding (boarding patients waiting for an inpatient bed), other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU (1:3 ratio), sitter assignments, and PACU surge.
