Required Skills/Experience: 1-2 years of experience required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: RN experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred.
Unit Details: Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient population in a medical environment that is not traditional Med/Surg. Nurses do not manage ventilators; RTs handle vents. Nurse responsibilities include IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, Foley care, port access, central line dressing changes, and wound measurements. Respiratory step-down ratios: D/E 1:9, N 1:12. Respiratory Care Unit ratios: D/E 1:9, N 1:12. TRU cares for TBI and medically complex chronic care patients; ratios: D/E 1:7-10, N 1:12.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend is required.
Floating Requirements: Will float to like chronic care units: RCU, RCU2, SDU, and TRU; travelers float first. For a 12 hour shift, may be on one unit for 4 hours and another for 8 hours.
