Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.
If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Special Requests:
- Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
- Cannot submit to more than 1 position at a time within the whole WVU system.
- Block scheduling is allowed.
Unit Details:
- Uses Cerner.
- Patient ratios are 1:4-5; 1:6 for MedSurg acuity.
- A monitor tech is available, but RNs must be able to read and interpret strips; the unit is also the central monitor station for the whole hospital.
- Nurses must be able to titrate Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; insulin is set-rate only, and there are no sedation drips.
- Ventilation support includes BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow.
- Hospitalist coverage is in-house 24/7; an intensivist is in the ICU 7 days/week from 7a-7p and on-call after hours. An NP is sometimes available.
- There is no IV team; ICU charge nurses or the ICU director can be called for difficult IV sticks.
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy are in-house 24/7.
- Patient population includes heavy cardiac cases, dysrhythmias, CVAs, a mix of everything, and patients downgraded from the ICU.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Must work every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday, and must work Christmas or New Year's.
Floating Requirements:
- Could float to the ICU as helping hands.
