Required Skills/Experience:
Knowledge of diagnostic and interventional heart catheterization is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
EP and structural experience preferred.
Unit Details:
Cases include electrophysiology (EP), cardiac catheterization, and structural heart procedures.
EP cases include ablations, EP studies, devices (pacemakers, ICD, etc.), lead extractions, and cardioversions.
Cath cases include left heart catheterizations, right heart catheterizations, transvenous pacing, Impella insertions/removals, and peripheral cases.
Structural cases include Watchman procedures, valve procedures, PFOs, and ECMO.
Case volume varies day to day; there are typically 5-6 cath procedures per day in cath rooms and 2-5 cases in EP rooms, depending on whether procedures are EP studies/ablations or device cases.
Several unpredictable factors, including add-ons, physician time off, sick days, cancellations, and no-shows, can affect daily case volume.
The patient population is adult, age 20 and above.
Respiratory support is available 24/7.
Anesthesia support is available 24/7.
Advanced practice providers are present on the unit.
Venipuncture is performed on the unit.
The medication system is a drug box.
Shift & Scheduling:
Shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday.
Call coverage depends directly on staffing and is not fixed. Call shifts are generally limited to 7 days total for the month, including one Friday - Sunday and four weeknights of call.
Weeknight call is 5pm - 6:30am.
Weekend call is 5pm Friday - 6:30am Monday morning.
Holiday coverage is required.
