Please expect someone with a 501 (Arkansas) area code or from the facility to reach out to interview you for this position!

  • PCU assignments require cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube, lumbar drain, tracheostomy, and IV medication titration skills, including amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, non-DKA insulin, heparin, and sometimes Cardene.
  • Med-surg assignments require IV, PCA, chest tube, drain, ostomy, and IV antibiotic skills.
  • Traveler telemetry competency is required.
  • If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.

Special Requests:

  • Any RTO or special requests not included on your application will not be considered.
  • Holiday requests are not permitted.
  • Time off requests of up to 5 days may be approved; requests for additional days must be emailed to NM Todd Murray.
  • If requesting time off, you must be willing to add it to the end of the assignment.
  • You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility.

Unit Details:

  • The primary assignment is ED Holding, which has mixed diagnoses, including isolation and non-ambulatory patients; it is a fast-paced unit, and patients are typically waiting for a bed.
  • ICU patient populations include respiratory failure, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, complicated postoperative patients, CVAs, flap surgeries, post-arrest patients, ETOH, and IVDA. Higher-level therapies include Rotoprone, manual proning, hypothermia protocol, CRRT, TPA, and flap surgeries; these patients will not be taken. No craniotomies, major traumas, or major cardiothoracic patients.
  • PCU patient populations include respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, bleeding disorders, general medical-surgical, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, general, and orthopedic cases.
  • Med-surg includes neutropenic and postoperative oncology patients, psychiatric patients, and general medical-surgical patients with postoperative care, COPD, CHF, sepsis, DVT, AKI, dialysis, and COVID; COVID is common on this floor.
  • MS Ortho includes total joints, postoperative patients, and general medical overflow.
  • MS Palliative includes general medical patients with pneumonia, sepsis, CHF, COPD, AKI, DVT, PE, occasional surgical cases, and COVID.
  • Rehab patients include stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI, multi-trauma, post-COVID, and post-ICU cases; vents and trachs are present, and patients are generally at medical-surgical acuity. Respiratory therapy provides just-in-time training.
  • The ACLS transport RN transports patients throughout the hospital, including inpatient units, ED, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, PACU, and cath lab.
  • Day-shift ACLS transport RNs typically become busy around 0730-0800 and remain busy for the rest of the day.
  • Patient ratios vary by unit: ICU 1:2 based on acuity; PCU and CCU 1:4 depending on acuity or whether a patient is discharging; medical and surgical 1:5; rehab uses a 1:8 team model (RN, LPN, tech).
  • Respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support are available 24/7.
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Must call the RMC staffing office at least 30-45 minutes before each shift to receive an assignment (preferred option).
  • The assignment is also posted outside the House Supervisor's office.
  • Must be on time to the correct unit by 0700; cannot clock in before 0653.
  • Weekends vary depending on the needs of the unit.
  • The schedule is provided 3 weeks at a time and received around 10 days before the schedule begins.
  • Self-scheduling is not available.
  • No call.

Floating Requirements:

  • The role will mainly float to ED Holding.
  • The role primarily supports GSH 1 Dally/2 River North and South/float pool teams.
  • Float assignments may be for partial shifts.
  • The nurse may float within their scope of practice or to lower-acuity units.
  • If a PCU nurse floats to med-surg, the ratio is 1:5.
  • The float pool may support COVID overflow.

Pre-employment modules may be required for this role. Please upload any certifications or health documents you have to your profile to expedite your on-boarding process.
