Required Skills/Experience:
Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drains, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Special Requests:
RTO: Up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract.
Unit Details:
Patient population includes small bowel obstructions, general surgery cases (colectomy, colon and small bowel resections, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, splenectomy, and thyroidectomy), kidney stones, pneumothorax, bariatric surgery, rib fractures, hip fractures, joint replacements, and cellulitis.
RN patient ratios are 1:4-6; during surge times, ratios may be 1:7-8.
The unit uses BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Masimo monitors, and remote telemetry.
Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend rotation.
Travelers will work 75% of holidays.
No call.
Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.
Floating Requirements:
Travel nurses are first to float to other nursing units based on patient-care needs and staffing demands and will take patients within scope of practice on any unit, including Med-Surg assignments in ICU and Med-Surg holds in the ED.
Travelers will be required to float to facilities in Region 1 as needed, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH for pediatrics only); any facility within the region may be included.
