Unit Details:

• Functions primarily in direct patient care; triages patients, obtains patient histories and vital signs, assesses patients, and independently initiates immediate care in life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician.
• Provides care for both acutely ill and nonacute patients, performs multiple procedures using complex and simple nursing skills, assists physicians with procedures, provides physical and psychological comfort to patients and families, and gives discharge and follow-up instructions.
• Answers ambulance radios and gives appropriate orders for prehospital care.
• Works with multiple types of sophisticated equipment in a frequently stressful environment.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Every other weekend.
• No call.
