Additional Details:

You must be willing to float, work weekends, and generally just be very flexible.

You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Required Skills/Experience: Must have delivery attendance experience. Placement of IVs in neonates. Drawing labs. Experienced level III NICU nurse. Management of ventilators and central lines. Administration of medications (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, orally, rectally, topically, and instilling eye drops or ointment). Blood administration.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Previous Charge Experience: Preferred.

Unit Details: Neonate patient population. Patient ratios: NICU 1:1, 1:2, 1:3; NOU 1:4-6. Attend vaginal and C-section deliveries and assist with transition of the newborn. Admit and discharge neonates in NICU and admit and discharge NOU newborns home. Coordinate care with NNP, MD, RN, social services, RT, radiology, and OT. Educate and update parents and assist new mothers with breastfeeding. Procedures performed on unit: assisting with chest tube insertion, assisting with PICC, UAC and UVC placement, assisting with x-rays, CBGs and ABGs, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, EEGs, intubation, oxygen administration, nitric oxide administration, and exchange transfusions. Uses GE-CPN charting in NOU. Equipment includes cardiac/respiratory monitors, pulse oximeters, ventilators, HFNC, CPAP, radiant heat warmers, isolettes, bili-meters, phototherapy, and IV pumps.

Shift & Scheduling: Self scheduling. Every other weekend. 12 weekend shifts per contract. Holiday requirement: 2 major and 1 minor holiday (FT); PRN: 1 major and 1 minor holiday.

Floating Requirements: May float to NOU/normal newborn nursery with 1:4-6 ratios. NICU and NOU nurses may be asked to task in other departments, with priority for the third floor.
