Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience:

  • MS/Tele and Med/Surg work setting experience
  • Telemetry - remote monitoring and use of rapid response teams
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
  • Blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Heparin
  • Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen tank
  • Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Kidney transplant and urology/nephrology experience
  • Teaching Hospital experience

Special Requests:

  • Block schedule requests will be considered but are not guaranteed

Unit Details:

  • Urology/nephrology Med-Surg unit caring for adult patients
  • May work charge as needed for this assignment
  • Continuous bladder irrigation, difficult urinary catheter insertion team, and post-operative care of kidney transplant patients
  • Variety of central and peripheral IV lines, urinary catheter types, CBI, hand irrigation, chest tubes, JP drains, nephrostomy tubes, and ileal conduits
  • 50-75% urology/nephrology illness and surgical procedures, including kidney transplant, kidney stones, enlarged prostates, cancers of the kidney, bladder, penile, and prostate, and end-stage kidney disease
  • Med-Surg overflow including UTI, pneumonia, cellulitis, and step-down transfers from ICU and IMC
  • Busy unit with frequent discharges and re-admissions

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Every other weekend
  • No call

Floating Requirements:

  • Will float to other Medical Surgical units

  • Will work Charge as needed for this assignment.
