Travel Nurse (RN) - Neurologic Intensive Care Unit

An interview with the unit manager may not be available prior to offer. If you do not interview with the unit manager, you may interview with a third-party clinical nurse manager.

Required Skills/Experience

• Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU background with strong assessment skills in Neuro required.

Preferred Skills/Experience

• 1 travel assignment preferred.
• Neuro interventional experience preferred.

Required Credentials

• An associate degree or certificate is required.
• An EKG exam is required during compliance.

Unit Details

• Patient population includes stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery patients.
• The unit uses EVDs and ICP monitoring.
• Primary procedures include neuro assessments and basic bedside ICU procedures such as line placement and intubation.
• Neuro-specific procedures include bedside bolt and drain placements with Neurosurgery; future work may include caring for neuro-interventional patients.

Shift & Scheduling

• Day/night variable shifts run 7a-730p and 7p-730a.
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend.
• Holiday rotation is every other holiday.
• No call.
• The contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census per contract; low census may occur in hour increments as needed, typically in 4-hour increments, and the traveler may be asked to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. This is not considered on-call.
• Hours are not assured during orientation week; weekly hours are set except when the unit is closed for holidays.

Floating Requirements

• The clinician will float between the Neuro Critical Care ICU and MSICU, with possible floating to other critical care units and other inpatient units as needed.
