Unit Details: Works in a hospital respiratory therapy unit with considerable independent clinical judgment. Cares for patients with respiratory diseases and disorders, including critically ill, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Initiates, monitors, and maintains mechanical ventilation and other life-support systems; performs emergency intubation, arterial punctures, ventilator adjustments, airway management, tracheostomy and endotracheal tube changes, and weaning support. Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and patient transport requiring mechanical ventilation. Performs patient assessments, treatment recommendations, aerosol and nebulizer therapy, chest physiotherapy, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, patient and family education, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, electroencephalogram electrode placement, and polysomnography/sleep studies. Provides initial instruction to outpatients at the hospital or in the home.
Shift & Scheduling: Must be flexible and may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
