Required Credentials: Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam, Prime Basic Rhythm Interpretation Screening, Prime Core Competencies Exam, and Prime Specialty Exam required; must score 80% or higher.

Preferred Credentials: Flu shot is strongly recommended.

Shift & Scheduling: This position has 2 different shift options: 4 - 10hour shifts - 6:30am-5:30pm; 5 - 8hour shifts - 6:30am-2:30pm. 10-15 on-call shifts a month for STEMI/stroke coverage.

Shift & Scheduling: Shift Times: 07:00:00 AM - 05:30:00 PM or 7:00am-3:30pm, On-Call after hours, weekends, and holidays

Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist

Shift & Scheduling: Mon-Fri. On-call one weekend per month = 24 hours Sat and Sun. Mon-Fri on-call 3p-630a as needed.

Required Skills/Experience:
Experience with manifold system is required. Scrub assist and table-side experience required.
Six (6)-12 months during CVT accredited program or two (2) years in another cardiac vascular laboratory.
Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
3 years preferred.

Required Credentials:
Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technologist program or graduate of an applied science program.

Preferred Credentials:
Associates or Bachelors Degree in health science field.
Licensed special procedures Radiologic Technologist.

Special Requests:
Failed fit tests due to facial hair and inability to shave automatically disqualify clinicians from proceeding.

Unit Details:
Assists with invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement.
Assists with circulatory support devices including IABP and Impella.
Assists with vascular access, sheath removal, hemostatic closure devices, and radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
Uses power injector, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, digital cine technologies, and Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS).

Shift & Scheduling:
Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled are required.
On-call required.

Strong IV insertion skills.

Unit Details:
Conducts comprehensive pre-procedural assessments, including review of medical history, renal function, cardiac status, and contraindications to contrast or medications.
Administers and titrates medications (e.g., beta-blockers, nitroglycerin) per protocol to achieve optimal heart rate control for image quality.
Establishes and maintains IV access for contrast administration, including use of power injectors.
Implements evidence-based practices to reduce risk of contrast-related complications, including extravasation and allergic reactions.
Monitors patients continuously before, during, and after CCTA procedures and promptly identifies and responds to clinical changes.
Provides patient education and ensures informed consent, explaining procedure expectations and post-procedure care.
Collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality imaging.
Documents care accurately in the electronic medical record, including medications, patient response, and procedural details.
Responds to emergencies, including contrast reactions and acute clinical events, following established protocols and ACLS guidelines.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains competency in cardiac imaging and contrast safety practices.

Monday-Friday.
No call.

Unit Details:
Monitors patients’ blood pressure changes from baseline and interprets intracardiac pressures during procedures.
Records pressures in all chambers requested by the physician.
Assists with cardiac catheterizations by setting up equipment and instruments in a sterile field and supplying catheters, wires, balloons, and stents during procedures.
Maintains a complete record of all events occurring during a procedure and processes data through the Cardiac Cath Lab computer and DX.
Calibrates and operates A-Vox, Cardiac Output, and ACT equipment.
Sets up and calibrates the intra-aortic balloon pump, fine-tunes timing with the physician, and monitors the balloon pump until the patient is in the CCU, OR, or CSICU.
Assists in emergency situations by operating the defibrillator, performing artificial resuscitation, using an external pacemaker, and suctioning patients.
Learns and applies new technology and procedures introduced to the Cardiac Cath Lab, including flow wire, ultrasound, and rotablator.
Operates the power injector for large-volume dye contrast injections.
Assists the nursing staff by transporting patients from one area to the next.

Shift & Scheduling:
No weekends.
No call.
