Required Credentials:
New Hampshire licensure is required, in addition to Vermont licensure; a compact license is accepted.
Graduate of an accredited school as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
1 year of PTA experience in a home health care setting is preferred.
Unit Details:
Provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist according to the patient plan of care.
Initial and periodic evaluations are completed by the RPT; the PTA follows new patients after the RPT evaluation and assignment of care.
Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance using exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
Performs active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait and functional training, activities of daily living including transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
Uses equipment such as ultra-violet and infrared lamps, low voltage generation, diathermy, and ultrasonic machines.
Teaches patients and caregivers self-care techniques and activities as appropriate.
Arranges for patient equipment use and completes timely clinical notes and required documentation.
