Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience: Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Foley care, central line management/dressing changes/blood draws, experience caring for patients on dialysis and BiPAP, and heparin drips. Preferred Skills/Experience: Could have occasional post-pacemaker placement and post-cath patients with no interventions; experience preferred but not required on these. Unit Details: Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, diabetes, infections, electrolyte imbalances, altered mental status, sepsis workups, and post-general surgery. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and Spacelabs monitors. Support includes CNAs at a 1:9 ratio, LPNs in standard nurse capacity, a day secretary, phlebotomy 24/7, no IV/VAT team, house supervisor and rapid response team 24/7, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7, and telemetry monitoring/tech 24/7. Charge nurse carries a full patient assignment. Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call. Holiday rotation required. Special Requests: RTO requests: up to 5 days may be approved. Cannot guarantee block scheduling. Floating Requirements: Will float to other Med/Surg areas within the facility. Could float to ICU for Med/Surg patients only; will never have ICU/PCU patient assignments.
