Required Skills/Experience:
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have significant SPD experience; manager approval required.
- Experience with a wide variety of instruments for orthopedics, ophthalmology, neuro, plastics, ENT, urology, cardiothoracic, vascular, GYN, robotics, and general service lines required.
- Must have experience in SPM Tracking
Unit Details:
- Processes and maintains surgical instruments, equipment, scopes, and powered surgical instruments, including inspection, function evaluation, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilization, quality control documentation, and distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the medical center.
- Performs assembly, sterilization, wrapping, decontamination, instrument inspection, and high-level disinfection.
- Uses steam sterilization, low-temp (Vrpo) sterilization, and a Medivator mainly for TEE probes; does not clean GI scopes.
- Serves as a resource on shift and works very independently; may be the only person in decontamination, assembly, or sterilization.
- Free parking
Shift & Scheduling:
- No weekend rotation.
- No call.
- No holiday expectations.
Special Requests:
- RTO requires manager approval.
Floating Requirements:
- Will routinely float between decontamination, assembly, and sterilization, and between two sterile processing departments within the same building.
