Required Credentials:
Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology.
Unit Details:
The surgical caseload is primarily orthopedic.
The assignment may include working as a first or second surgical technician or second circulator when required.
Procedures and tasks include surgical closure of all layers of skin, suctioning, tying, camera holding, and retracting.
Patient care includes age-specific care for obstetrical patients.
Scrubbing duties include teaching medical students, residents, and other students, and the role includes preceptor duties.
The role assists with patient positioning and prepares trays, instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
The role includes room turnover, supply ordering, inventory control, and supply chain management as needed.
Shift & Scheduling:
Weekend and holiday coverage is through an on-call rotation.
Floating Requirements:
Travelers assigned to the Greater Peoria Service Area may be required to float between the following sites: Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and/or Carle Health Proctor Hospital. The Carle Leader will notify the traveler directly when there is a need to float between locations.
