Required Skills/Experience: Strong background in robots (Xi), neuro/ENT, orthopedic, general, and vascular cases.
Special Requests: First-time travelers require further approval/evaluation from the hiring supervisor and are not recommended. Robotic cases are not trained for agency clinicians unless they already have a strong background and are here for more than 1 contract. Time off requests must be checked with the hiring supervisor. Holiday weeks—offer 4 10/hr or agency can work normal hours and request to not work (take unpaid) the holiday.
Unit Details: Functions as a surgical first or second assistant for complex and basic operative or invasive procedures. May perform Surgical Technologist responsibilities if required, but preferably not at the same time while functioning as first assist. Cases include neuro/ENT, orthopedic, general, breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, genitourinary, gynecology, and robotic procedures. Uses Epic, Alaris, and Pyxis.
Shift & Scheduling: Variable start times for Day shift (Anywhere between 5:30am-7am). Weekend Rotation: 1-2 Saturday and/or Sunday (all in an 8 week schedule) *subject to change based on staffing. On Call, Call Back Requirements: 230-0700:5-8 slots subject to change depending on staffing. in a (8-week schedule.). Holiday Requirements Holiday weeks—Offer 4 10/hr or agency can work normal hours and request to not work (take unpaid) the Holiday.
Floating Requirements: Cross-trained to all Main OR specialties and the Urology Center, but no floating to other hospitals.
Travel Surgical Assistant Responsibilities
Travel Surgical Assistants play a crucial role in assisting surgeons during surgical procedures and ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Your responsibilities will include preparing operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, and organizing surgical instruments to facilitate smooth surgical procedures. Additionally, you'll assist surgeons by providing instruments and supplies as needed, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs throughout the procedure. With each assignment, you'll have the opportunity to apply your surgical skills, adapt to different surgical specialties, and contribute to delivering high-quality patient care.
