Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
- Has experience in surgeries support within the surgical team.
- Has experience in life support situations related to surgical care.
- Has experience in sterile field management.
- Has experience in sterilization processes and requirements.
- Has experience in supervision within surgical services (within ORT scope).
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- One (1) yr. OR scrubbing experience is preferred.
- One (1) yr. clinical experience in an accredited hospital is preferred.
Required Credentials:
- Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past Six (6) months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam), or Two (2) years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last Three (3) years.
- Training in the US military may substitute for completion of the formal surgical technologist training.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Graduation from formal, accredited surgical technologist program is required.
Preferred Credentials:
- Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery is preferred.
Unit Details:
- Performs scrub duties; prepares the operating room, instruments, and case carts; provides instrumentation, suture, and supplies during procedures; may assist the surgeon by passing instruments; handles specimens for laboratory analysis; and assists with room turnover and restocking.
- May assist with sterile processing.
Shift & Scheduling:
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions.
Floating Requirements:
- May be required to float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications based on business need.
