Lab Scientist

Floating Requirements:
You may be required to float to Adventist Health locations within 30 miles.

Required Credentials:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, allied health technologies, or equivalent.

Preferred Credentials:
Current certification from National Credentialing Agency for Labs (NCA) preferred.

Unit Details:
Performs a wide variety of clinical laboratory testing on biological specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, special chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, microbiology, and referral testing.
Includes specimen collection/phlebotomy as needed, quality control checks, result validation, correlation of results with diagnoses, critical value reporting, instrument maintenance/troubleshooting/calibration, and training/supervision of laboratory assistants and clerks.
Provides both inpatient and outpatient services; phlebotomy coverage supports both inpatient and outpatient areas from 0500-2130.

Shift & Scheduling:
Variable schedule; on-call 0330-0530 once per week.

Performs clinical laboratory testing on biological specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, special chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, microbiology, and referral testing.
Includes specimen collection and phlebotomy as needed, result review and reporting, quality control, and equipment/instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
May train and supervise trainees, laboratory assistants, and clerks as needed.

Shift & Scheduling:
Mostly swing shift 10-hour consecutive shifts.
Call: 0330-0530, once per week.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Two years of medical technology experience preferred.

Required Credentials: Bachelor's degree in a related field and graduation from an accredited School of Medical Technology.

Unit Details: Performs quality laboratory testing, interprets results, monitors quality control procedures, and maintains a fully operational laboratory environment. Performs testing in chemical, microscopic, microbiological, blood bank, hematological, and serological disciplines. Maintains proficiency in venous phlebotomy procedures. Participates in routine operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Work environment includes a critical access hospital and rural health clinic.
