Required Credentials: One of the following: Bachelor’s Degree. Completion of a Cytotechnology Program and Certificate of completion. Temp Illinois licensure is not accepted.
Unit Details: Participates in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens, both gynecologic and non-gynecologic, for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions according to departmental terminology and protocols, including marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses, and determining cases for quality control or subsequent review with pathologist. Performs various quality control and quality assurance procedures, evaluates acceptability as associated with department testing, and participates in the collection, processing and immediate evaluation of Fine Needle Aspirations using tele-pathology system for rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE).
Shift & Scheduling: Monday-Friday. No holidays. Occasional weekends.
Floating Requirements: Travelers assigned to the Greater Peoria Service Area may be required to float between the following sites: Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and/or Carle Health Proctor Hospital. The Carle Leader will notify the traveler directly when there is a need to float between locations.
