Special Requests: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to. Must take a full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. Must disclose any previous Marshfield employment; if previously worked for Marshfield, the end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission. Each employment history entry must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, and whether the facility was a teaching facility. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Skills checklist cannot contain any N/As; all lines must have a numerical rating. No self-scheduling; block scheduling to the best of our ability, dependent on staffing.
Unit Details: Nurse-patient ratios: days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6. Patient population includes ortho trauma (fractures, joint replacements), vascular cases (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy, heparin drips, wound dressing changes), urology (TURP, TURBT, continuous bladder irrigation), neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain), OBGYN oncology (TAH/OBS), and acute medical admissions. RNs titrate drips following a prescribed nomogram. Common drips: heparin; occasionally nitro, bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin. Telemetry techs monitor patients 24/7; RNs do not read their own strips. Charge nurse takes an assignment on all shifts; house supervisor is present on all shifts. Nursing assistants are present: 0630-1900 ratio 1:8-10, 1900-2300 two CNAs for the unit, and 2300-0700 one CNA for the unit. During 1900-0700, RNs carry additional responsibility for vital signs and ADLs. Equipment/support includes CPAP, BIPAP, high-flow oxygen therapy, and respiratory therapy support. No vents.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Every other holiday. No call.
Floating Requirements: Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units.
