Required Skills/Experience: 2 years recent ICU experience required.
Required Credentials: You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding. Pass/fail exam on Friday during orientation; open book, with a 90% minimum required to pass.
Special Requests: Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. 50-mile radius rule applies, and candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. RTO must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submission.
Unit Details: Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, PCU 1:4-5, and Med Surg 1:5-6. Adult and pediatric patients >15 years old; common patient populations and cases include neurosurgery with a thrombectomy program, respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/overdose, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries including esophagectomy. Equipment, procedures, and monitoring include Impella, balloon pump, CRRT, CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser; prior experience is not required for some items and real-time training is available. RNs titrate vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics. No monitor techs; nurses read and interpret their own telemetry strips using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. Respiratory support ranges from nasal cannula to vents. Charge nurse is present on each shift and attends RRTs and codes. Patient care tech support is available at 1:18. Fast-paced tertiary unit with volume flexes; works closely with attendings, fellows, residents, and student providers.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Holidays: 2 out of 3 major holidays, every other, or as needed based on unit needs.
Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU.
