If no Cerner experience, RNs must be comfortable with EMRs and picking up quickly on them.
Required Credentials:
Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date
Special Requests:
Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.
A guest house is available for the call team only if normal housing is >20 minutes away.
RTO requires manager approval.
You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility.
Unit Details:
General cases include gallbladders, appendectomies, colectomies, and hernia repairs (laparoscopic and open).
Orthopedic cases include total joints (hips, knees, shoulders) and sports medicine.
Podiatry cases include toe amputations, bunionectomies, and hammer toes.
GYN cases include hysterectomies (mostly laparoscopic), tubals, hysteroscopies, and D&Cs.
OB cases include C-sections; OR RNs will circulate them rather than LDRP RNs.
Endoscopic cases include colonoscopies, EGDs, and bronchoscopies.
Urology cases include TURPs, cystoscopies, lithotripsies, and circumcisions.
The OR does not handle robotics, high-level trauma cases, neuro cases, etc.
Approximately 8-10 cases are performed per day on average.
On callback, RNs will circulate cases and recover patients after cases. RNs will also learn to perform pre-op interviews to assist there if needed.
RNs will transport patients because there is no transporter.
Travelers will help turn over and clean rooms because there is no housekeeping.
Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
Shift & Scheduling:
Call requirement: 4-8 call shifts per month (1630-0700 the following day).
One weekend of call per month runs Friday 0700 - Monday 0700.
A 20-minute response time is required.
The department will try to let the call team off early the following work day if called in the night before, if possible.
Buddy call is an option during orientation, but independent call is expected the 2nd week here.
Regular shifts run Monday-Thursday; the department is closed on Fridays except for the call team.
Call is required only for major holidays; staff cover most holidays, but the clinician could be on call for 1 summer/1 winter holiday.
Pre-employment modules may be required for this role. Please upload any certifications or health documents you have to your profile to expedite your on-boarding process.
