IV insertion.
Chest tube management.
DHT insertion/management.
Tracheostomy experience.
CVC management.
Foley management.
Early patient mobility.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Cardiac/telemetry experience preferred.
Critical care experience preferred.

Special Requests:
Any special scheduling requests must be made with Manager upon arrival at facility.
Days off may be requested as needed prior to schedule closing.
Block scheduling may be accommodated for night shift.

Unit Details:
Cares for medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients requiring intermediate care such as sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, angina, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, heart blocks, post-cardiac catheterization, AKI, CKD, diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis, CVA, acute and chronic respiratory failure, GI bleed, pneumonia, post-operative day one CABG, post-operative day one aortic valve surgery, post-thoracic surgery, post-neurosurgery, and other complex patients.
Common PCU drips include Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, and titratable Precedex.
Procedures performed on the unit include wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, and DHT/NG placement.
Uses Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, PatientKeeper, and MobiLab.
PCU staff do not perform their own phlebotomy but do collect microbiology specimens such as MRSA screens and UAs.

Shift & Scheduling:
3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
Self-scheduling within reason to allow balanced staffing.
Schedule will be finalized 2 weeks in advance.
Flexible contract hours: 48 per week may be accommodated.

Floating Requirements:
Travel RNs float first; floating is rotated, and the RN with the oldest float date will float first.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment.
