Unit Details:
7th Floor is a surgical unit caring for abdominal surgeries, trauma and Whipple cases.
8BC is a long-term, low-acuity unit with patients awaiting placement or receiving long-term antibiotic therapy.
9th Floor handles general medical cases, including chronic and acute patients.
2 South is a short-stay, cardiac and COVID unit; 3 South is a neuro unit; 4 South is an orthopedic and spine unit.
Alternate assignments include 10th Floor Med-Surg Oncology and the ER Transition Unit, adjacent to the ER, which holds Med-Surg patients waiting for Med-Surg beds.
The ER Transition Unit includes ERT, with no specific patient restrictions and its own telemetry monitoring; CDU, a rapid cardiac decision unit with its own telemetry monitoring and curtained areas between beds; and MSW, a Med-Surg transition area with curtained areas between beds, mostly for general Med-Tele patients and with some infection-prevention exclusion criteria.
Telemetry is monitored remotely by telemetry technicians, who measure and read strips; RNs verify that the readings are correct.
RNs titrate drips. Most drips are at a set rate and may be titrated up to the maximum allowed by the Med-Surg guideline; patients transfer to critical care if the maximum is reached.
Common titratable or set-rate drips include insulin, heparin, nitro up to 30 mcg, dobutamine up to 5 mcg, dopamine up to 5 mcg, and Cardizem up to 30 mcg only for patients already taking oral Cardizem; Cardizem may not be used for new-onset arrhythmias.
Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP and tracheostomies; there are no ventilators.
If RN staffing is short, RNs may be assigned as a CNA, with the same expectation as facility staff.
RNs may be assigned as entrance screeners if needed, with the same expectation as facility staff.
Alternate units follow the same Med-Surg standard of care.

Travel RN Job Salary & Responsibilities
Your travel RN salary is based on your specialty, experience, and where you secure your assignment. Registered Nurse job descriptions focus on technical knowledge and supervisory skills; attention to detail; and communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals in critical situations. But, an RN’s responsibilities also require a combination of compassion, patience, and resilience.
This isn’t news to you. You came to Trusted because you’ve tried RN staffing agencies without the personal support you need. This doesn’t surprise us, either. We’re a team of Trusted nurses who’ve been in your shoes (those comfy, non-slip shoes). We’ll help advance your career on your terms.
