Additional Details:
Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.
If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.
Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Cardiac experience preferred.
Unit Details:
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Stepdown 1:3; floor 1:5 or 6.
- Patient population includes cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, medicine, and hospitalist/med-surg patients.
- RNs are required to titrate heparin, insulin, nitro, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amio, and dobutamine drips.
- Dedicated charge nurse on the shift; goal is a free charge nurse, but depending on staffing may take 1-3 patients.
- Clinical associates typically run with 2 overnight (1:16); budgeted for 4 (1:8).
- Respiratory support/equipment includes NC, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, and trach to vent; dedicated RT for the 9th floor.
- Tele techs on 8SE and 10SE monitor and record telemetry strips; Phillips monitoring.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Self-scheduling in Kronos; generally flexible and allows block scheduling.
- Weekend requirement for the night shift position: 3-4 Saturdays/Sundays, 2 Fridays, and 2 Mondays in a 4-week schedule period.
- Holiday requirement: an eve and a day (Black Friday or Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day).
- No call.
Floating Requirements:
- Traveler is first to be pulled off the unit if needed. Rotational pull to the floor assignment; pull log dates are kept by charge nurses. The pull to the floor assignment is typically 1 out of the 3 shifts.
