Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience:
- Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit required.
- Heparin titrated drip experience required.
Special Requests:
- At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job.
- Block scheduling may be considered if staffing allows.
Unit Details:
- Common patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience cases, and some medical overflow.
- RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT.
- House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Uses Philips monitors.
- High-flow oxygen for stable COVID patients only; rare on this unit.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend on both shifts.
- Every other holiday.
- No call.
Floating Requirements:
- Float in rotation with the rest of staff.
- General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team.
- If floated outside of the general unit for urgent need, assignments are limited to skills the clinician is competent to perform and paired with a nurse trained for that unit.
