Additional Information
Required Skills/Experience: Vents, trachs, art lines, vasopressor and sedation management, central line blood draws.
Preferred Skills/Experience: CVVH/CRRT, EVD.
Required Credentials: Education: ASN / BSN
Special Requests: RTO requests up to 7 days may be approved.
Unit Details: Neurology ICU caring for ischemic strokes (post TNK, thrombectomies), hemorrhagic strokes (SAH, IPH, IVH, SDH), seizures, spinal surgeries, and brain mass resections/biopsies. All significant neuro-intensive care patients are assigned to core staff. Also sees medical respiratory overflow and general medical ICU overflow. Patient ratios: 1:1-2, 1:3 for mixed acuity status. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, GE monitors, and Medtronic EVDs. CNA support 1:8-10. Charge RN rarely takes a patient assignment. Critical care NP available on days. Intensivist, hospitalist, and RT available 24/7. Phlebotomy assists with peripheral blood draws. Telemetry at bedside and central monitor at the nurse's station.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call. Holiday expectations: every other. Schedule cycle: 6-week increments. Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
Floating Requirements: May float to ED Holding (board patients waiting for an inpatient bed) 1:3-4; other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, CVICU); medical surgical unit (Ratio-1:3); sitter; and PACU surge 1:3-4.
