    Additional Information

MultiCare includes the expected start date they prefer on their job postings. Please keep this in mind when listing your start date availability. If you can start on the day they are requesting, you are more likely to be selected for an interview or offer.

Please expect someone with a 501 (Arkansas) area code or from the facility to reach out to interview you for this position.

    Required Skills/Experience:

    • First-time travelers accepted with strong PCU/Tele and previous float pool experience.
    • 24h post-CABG/TAVR patient experience required.
    • IV medication titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, BiPAP management, ostomy, general drains, traches, chest tubes, and lumbar drains required.

    Preferred Skills/Experience:

    • TR Bands experience preferred.

    Required Credentials:

    • If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.

    Special Requests:

    • Any RTO or special requests not included on your application will not be considered.
    • You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility.

    Unit Details:

    • Most of the contract will likely be spent in ED Holding, though the home unit is PCU Float Pool and travelers will also float to inpatient PCU areas.
    • Common patient populations and cases include neuro, trauma, surgical, medical, respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, bleeding disorders, general medical and surgical, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, ortho, strokes, STEMIs, fem-pops, pacemakers, ablations, chest pain observation, post-cath, and TR bands.
    • Includes CCU/Cardiac Stepdown and Cardiac Short Stay/Cardiac Observation coverage.
    • Ratios vary by area: PCU 1:4; MedSurg 1:5-6.
    • Department support includes CNA, charge RN without patient assignment, hospitalist 24/7, RT 24/7, and cardiac and specialty MDs on call 24/7.
    • Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.

    Shift & Scheduling:

    • Shift times may be 0700-1930 or 1900-0730.
    • Every other weekend rotation; rare back-to-back weekends possible.
    • No call.
    • RTO: Ok to approve up to 5 days.
    • Schedule is made in 3-week increments and is typically received 7-10 days before it begins.
    • No self-scheduling and no guarantee of a patterned schedule.

    Floating Requirements:

    • Float within scope of practice to PCU, Tele, MedSurg, and ER Holding anywhere in Tacoma General Hospital.
    • May also float to Allenmore Hospital as needed, around 2.5 miles away; this is not common, and travelers should be notified in advance if needed there.

Pre-employment modules may be required for this role. Please upload any certifications or health documents you have to your profile to expedite your on-boarding process.

To help match you with the right jobs, we use AI tools (our own and some from outside partners) to review your application and see how your background lines up with what each role needs. By applying, you agree to let us use your application and personal data for this.

Travel RN Job Salary & Responsibilities

Your travel RN salary is based on your specialty, experience, and where you secure your assignment. Registered Nurse job descriptions focus on technical knowledge and supervisory skills; attention to detail; and communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals in critical situations. But, an RN’s responsibilities also require a combination of compassion, patience, and resilience.

This isn’t news to you. You came to Trusted because you’ve tried RN staffing agencies without the personal support you need. This doesn’t surprise us, either. We’re a team of Trusted nurses who’ve been in your shoes (those comfy, non-slip shoes). We’ll help advance your career on your terms.
