References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you're applying to. Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.
Special Requests: Must take a full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location. If previously employed by Marshfield, the end date must be at least 6 months before submission. Travel duos are not guaranteed the same shifts. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
Required Skills/Experience: 2 years of MS, PCU, ICU experience. Must have experience in setting within the last 1 year. Must have drip experience. Vents: willing to train on vents, but RN must be open to learning.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Home trach/vent experience highly preferred.
Unit Details: Nurse: patient ratios — days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6, dependent on acuity. Neuro-focused population including strokes, seizure, Guillain-Barre, myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, endovascular cases, AMS, and dementia. Trauma/ortho injuries include hematomas and bleeds, falls on thinners, and farm and MVA accidents. RNs titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin. Charge nurse takes an assignment: full team on nights and a smaller assignment on days. Nurse aides available; ratios days 1:9, nights 1:12. Equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, VapoTherm, and EtCO2. Central monitor is located in a different area.
Shift & Scheduling: Self-scheduling; manager balances the schedule, which opens 6 weeks in advance. Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Typically 2/3 holidays for winter; otherwise every other holiday. No call.
Floating Requirements: Float to sister med-surg units across 6 specialties, including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc, to take more general patients.
