Resume: Each employment history entry must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, and whether it was a teaching facility.
Required Skills/Experience: 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience. Must have experience in the setting within the last 1 year. Drip experience required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Home trach/vent experience highly preferred.
Special Requests: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job. Must take a full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location. Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check. Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
Unit Details: Trach/vent experience is important on this unit; vent training is available and the RN must be open to learning. Ratios: Days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6, dependent on acuity. Neuro-focused patient population includes strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, endovascular cases, altered mental status, and dementia. Trauma/ortho patients include hematomas and bleeds, falls on blood thinners, and farm and MVA accidents. RNs titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and insulin. Equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, VapoTherm, and EtCO2. Central monitor is located in a different area. Night charge nurse takes a full assignment; day charge nurse takes a smaller assignment.
Shift & Scheduling: Self-scheduling opens 6 weeks in advance; manager balances the schedule. Same shifts cannot be guaranteed for travel duos. Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Typically 2/3 winter holidays, and otherwise every other holiday. No call.
Floating Requirements: May float to sister MS units across 6 specialties, including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc, to take more general patients as needed.
