Additional Information
Required Credentials:
- Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing.
- Cannot have any disciplinary action on state license.
Special Requests:
- Must be able to start within 2 weeks of the expected start date.
Unit Details:
- Correctional setting caring for inmates/residents.
- Provides comprehensive nursing care, including executing Licensed Independent Provider orders, dispensing and administering medications, assisting with examinations and treatment, and making referrals as needed.
- Attend sick call with the physician; prepare inmates/residents to be examined; prepare examining room and equipment.
- Operate pill call and document medications as required by applicable policies and procedures.
- Examine and assess new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries; refer inmates/residents to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facility as required by their condition.
- Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
- Provide guidance, supervise and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
- Monitor inmate/resident inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate.
- Observe and record inmate/resident behavior.
- Inspect the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband by inmate/residents; securely store or safely dispose of supplies and equipment.
- Provide health counseling and health education on an individual or group basis, as required.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Orientation will be the first two weeks - M-F days.
- 36 hours per week, but expected to have open availability to work per the CoreCivic Scheduling Policy.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear "Yes" or "No" response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
