Required Skills/Experience: Must be proficient in cardiovascular ICU care except immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant patients. Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Immediate post-op cardiovascular ICU experience is a bonus.

Unit Details: Patient ratios: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 depending on patient acuity. Cares for post-open-heart surgical patients including CABG, valve, CABG/valve, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids, post-cardiovascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, unstable NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management (hypothermia), transcutaneous pacing, transvenous pacing, severe heart failure, TAVRs, ventilated patients, overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID patients, and soon post-VAD placement and post-heart transplant patients. Uses IABPs, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT, PICC lines, midlines, CVCs, arterial lines (radial and femoral), ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide. RNs titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol; some drips are set rate, protocol-driven, or titrated per written order. Uses Philips monitoring; RNs are expected to read their own strips. Cares for multiple EP patients; Swan-Ganz catheters, CVCs, and arterial lines are used daily on most patients, temporary pacemakers are common, and a single assignment may include multiple high-acuity devices and therapies.

Shift & Scheduling: No self-scheduling for non AHU Mission Partners. Every other weekend. Night shift weekends are Friday and Saturday. Every other holiday.

Floating Requirements: Float to every level of care. Travelers are expected to take a full team.
