    Additional Information

    Required Credentials: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level and area of practice.

    Preferred Skills/Experience: Previous dialysis nursing experience in one or more dialysis modalities, including acute hemodialysis, chronic hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or home dialysis.

    Preferred Credentials: Nephrology Nurse Certification. CRASE training. If travel assignment extends beyond a 6-month period, CRASE training will be required.

    Unit Details: Provides direct and indirect nursing care for acute inpatient hemodialysis, outpatient peritoneal dialysis, home dialysis therapies, and other renal replacement therapies as appropriate. Functions in both the hospital and outpatient dialysis clinic. Initiates, monitors, and discontinues hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, ultrafiltration, and/or continuous renal replacement therapies as ordered. Provides initial and ongoing education, training, and support to patients and caregivers receiving home peritoneal dialysis, including routine clinic visits, retraining, and telephone triage. Performs dialysis machine safety checks, alarm testing, dialysate testing, chlorine/chloramine testing, water quality monitoring, and basic equipment troubleshooting.

    Shift & Scheduling: Participates in rotating on-call coverage for inpatient dialysis services and home dialysis patients requiring urgent clinical support, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and after-hours response as assigned.

    Floating Requirements: Agency nurses will be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care before core staff is floated.
