Special Requests: Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed. If the candidate worked at a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from that perm facility. Eligibility as current/previous employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. At least 1 reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you are applying to. Can only apply to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system. Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years. Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years. Block scheduling may be allowed if included in the contract; night shifts are usually blocked.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend for nights (Friday/Saturday), totaling 4 weekend shifts per schedule period. Rotating holidays. Schedule weeks run Sunday-Saturday.

Unit Details: Ratios 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:3 for stepdown patients. This unit supports stepdown needs for the facility; tele does not titrate drips, and the PCU is not a traditional stepdown unit. Uses Philips cardiac monitors with a central monitor station; monitor and ventilator data flows directly into Epic. Uses ICU Medical IV pumps for typical drips, including moderate conscious sedation. Ventilators are Servo and Hamilton; RT manages vents 100%. RNs may silence alarms after RT is notified, but otherwise do not manage vents. No IV team. Omnicell is used on the unit. MICU/SICU with some cardiac/CCU acuity; patients include post-cath lab and balloon pump cases. No open hearts. Includes ventrics but no bolts. Uses NxStage for CRRT, usually prioritized to core staff. Travelers with balloon pump experience may be considered for balloon pump assignments.

Floating Requirements: Typically travelers do not float outside of the ICU unless working a float pool assignment.
