Special Requests:
- At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job.
- If previously worked for Marshfield, must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission.
- Must take a full 6 months off from any Sanford Health or Good Samaritan Society location.
- Must disclose previous employment on your resume or elsewhere within the submission for a DNU check.
- Each employment history entry must include detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level if applicable, patient ratio, and whether the facility was teaching.
- Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Must have experience with patient populations and high acuity
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience desired/helpful.
Unit Details:
- Nurse:patient ratios: 1:2; 1:1 for higher-acuity patients such as CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, and OPO; 1:3 for med-surg/floor-status patients.
- Common patient populations include cardiovascular surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA), trauma, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, ortho surgery, ENT surgery, and other surgical ICU patients.
- RNs titrate drips including epi, norepi, propofol, precedex, vaso, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone.
- All nurses care for POD 1 heart patients; immediate post-op heart patients are cared for 1:1 by specifically trained nurses.
- RNs monitor their own telemetry and read/document rhythm strips using GE monitors.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend (or more if willing/able).
- Every other holiday (or more if willing/able).
- Call/standby only during the scheduled shift if low census (per agency allowed hours).
Floating Requirements:
- If not needed in SICU for a scheduled shift, may be staffed in MICU. If not needed in either SICU or MICU, may be assigned as a patient observer within the hospital, such as suicide direct observation or BiPAP safety.
