    Additional Information

    Required Skills/Experience: 2 years Postpartum RN experience required. IV insertion and care, central line management. Strong clinical assessment and Mother Baby skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital

    Required Credentials: Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) required; traveler must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance.

    Unit Details: Vaginal and C-section deliveries; overflow hysterectomies at times, but not often. RN patient ratio is 1:3-4 couplets. Support includes 2-3 CNAs per shift, unit secretary coverage 7a-11p with house-wide call secretary 11p-7a, charge nurse may have patients, a PICC team, discharge nurses, a resource team that floats to all units, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage. Most units use lab-collect phlebotomy; nurses draw from CVLs. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, portable vital sign monitors (Dynamapp), cardiac telemetry monitoring, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, Glucommander, and suction machines.

    Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 5-6 shifts on a 6 week schedule (5-6 out of 12). Must work one day of each major holiday: either 11/26 or 11/27, and 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1. On-call: 12 hour shift every 6 weeks.

    Floating Requirements: Float between Mother-Baby, Antepartum, and L&D. All adult med surg/telemetry units in house.
