Required Skills/Experience:

• Cervical exam experience required.
• Infant delivery experience required; deliveries will occasionally need RN assistance while the on-call physician is responding.
• Charge-level experience required.
• Postpartum couplet care experience required.
• Nursery experience in a level 2 nursery or higher acuity required for SCN positions.

Required Credentials:

• Area-specific competency exam required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Fetal monitoring, stabilization of a neonate, troubleshooting high-acuity situations, and strong triage assessment skills preferred.

Preferred Credentials:

• BSN preferred.

Unit Details:

• Unit covers Labor & Delivery, Level 2 special care nursery, and postpartum.
• Adult and newborn patient population.
• Common diagnoses/treatments include labor, gestational diabetes, hypertension, IUGR, macrosomia, and substance use in pregnancy.
• Uses fetal monitors, ISTAT, Freestyle, and Fetalink.
• Community hospital setting with a regional mission; not a teaching hospital, there are no resident physicians, and RNs are expected to work with minimal supervision.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Weekend requirements vary.
• No call.
