Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
- At least 2+ years of experience with cervical exams.
- At least 2+ years of experience with infant delivery; deliveries will occasionally need RN assistance while the on-call physician reports.
- Charge-level experience required.
- Postpartum couplet care experience required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Fetal monitoring.
- Stabilization of a neonate.
- Troubleshooting high-acuity situations.
- Strong triage assessment skills.
Required Credentials:
- Area-specific competency exam required.
Preferred Credentials:
- BSN preferred.
Unit Details:
- Childbirth Center includes labor and delivery, Level 2 special care nursery, and postpartum.
- Adult and newborn patient population.
- Common diagnoses/treatments include labor, GDM, hypertension, IUGR, macrosomia, and drug use in pregnancy.
- Uses fetal monitors, ISTAT, Freestyle, and Fetalink.
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards.
- Minimal supervision expected; this is not a teaching hospital and has no resident physicians.
- Community hospital setting with a regional mission.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Weekend hours vary.
- Call requirements: none.
