Required Skills/Experience:

• First-time travelers accepted only with 2+ years of experience.
• Vent management, IV starts, chest tubes, and IV medication titration required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Experience with neonatal resuscitation is preferred (CN will attend deliveries).

Required Credentials:

• Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing.

Special Requests:

• You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility.
• Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler.
• Time off must be pre-approved by management.

Unit Details:

• Level 3 NICU caring for neonates of all gestational ages.
• Diagnoses include, but are not limited to, low birth weight, high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, total body cooling, and feeders/growers.
• No ECMO or cardiac surgery at this time.
• RNs perform phlebotomy.
• No IV/VAT team.
• 24/7 neonatologist and neonatal nurse practitioner coverage.
• Transport team available 24/7; patients requiring surgery are transferred out because there is no dedicated pediatric surgical team.
• Lactation consultants available.
• Uses Alaris and Omnicell.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.
• No weekend rotation; traveler may work mostly weekends.
• On-call only if placed on call for low census.
• 2/4 major holidays required.

Floating Requirements:

• May float to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, and Adult units for constant observation only (overflow on peds unit).
